A Busy June – Awareness Weeks, Sunshine and So Much Care

June has been a particularly meaningful month here at Care and Companionship with Emma, packed with awareness campaigns, community activities, and looking after our clients through some very hot weather!

Carers Week 2026

We proudly joined the national Carers Week campaign (8th–14th June), celebrating and recognising the incredible unpaid carers who support family members, friends, and loved ones every day. This year's theme, "Building Carer Friendly Communities," highlighted the importance of creating environments where carers feel recognised, valued, and supported.

Whether caring for a loved one at home or balancing caring responsibilities alongside work and family life, we wanted every carer to know: your care makes a difference, and you are seen, appreciated, and valued.

Learning Disability Week – "Do You See Me?"

From 15th–21st June, we marked Learning Disability Week with this year's theme, "Do You See Me?" – encouraging everyone to look beyond a person's learning disability and truly see the individual: their strengths, talents, dreams, and unique personality.

It's so important that everyone feels recognised, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive.

Loneliness Awareness Week

We also reflected on Loneliness Awareness Week, remembering that loneliness can affect anyone, regardless of age or circumstance. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness – a friendly smile, a phone call, or simply taking the time to listen – can make a meaningful difference in someone's day.

Welcoming New Faces and Weekly Adventures

Alongside our companionship visits and trips out, we've supported clients with appointments, medication, personal care, and shopping. We were delighted to welcome Mr S to our care family this month too!

Our weeks have been filled with fresh air, new experiences, meaningful conversations, favourite hobbies, and a little bit of gardening – always shaped around what matters most to each individual.

Beating the Heat

What a hot, sunny week we had too! Our priority throughout the heatwave was ensuring every client remained safe, cool, comfortable, and well hydrated – from encouraging regular drinks and nutritious snacks, to finding shady spots for an ice lolly, and carrying out additional wellbeing checks.

A huge thank you to our incredible team for your compassion, dedication, and hard work during some extreme temperatures.

It's been a busy but rewarding month – here's to a wonderful July ahead!
